Since 2004, Solar Lighting International has been installing solar street lamps around the globe. We’re pleased to now be able to deliver our street lamps to Uganda.

A Better Light

Our street lights rely on the Phillips 160-170 Lumen per Watt chips. We find this chip to deliver excellent brightness while only requiring a minimal power draw.

This Stealth light design incorporates all of the components into one unit. This means that the light head can easily be installed as a replacement for existing street lamps.

These lamps come in three standard configurations:

• 6,400 lumens
• 12,800 lumens
• 19,200 lumens

One of the features of our Stealth series is the double built-in motion detectors. Offering detection up to 15 meters on each side of the light. This is a great way to conserve power consumption while still offering light when it’s needed.

There are several different ways you can program the motion sensors, depending on your needs. There is the Default Mode – this automatically operates at 50% brightness dusk to dawn. Sensor Mode when motion is detected, the light increases to 100% until no motion is detected, then returns to 30% brightness.

This innovative design feature allows our solar street lights to be used in the low light conditions of northern climates and helps them to perform at optimal levels during cloudy weeks.

The housing for our lights has ventilation added to it to ensure the internal components have good airflow and remain cool during operation.

A Better Panel

All of our lights use a monocrystalline solar panel. The monocrystalline panel is more effective ar converting sunlight into electricity. Thanks to this panel design, we can generate up to 50% more power per unit area.

The other advantage of a monocrystalline solar panel is that they have proven to be very resilient in our installations around the globe. 

We are also able to access a lower voltage-temperature coefficient and generate more electricity even on the hottest days.

This panel is fully integrated into the top of the street lamp. This helps to protect the panel while also letting us prewire it prior to shipment. This allows immediate installation upon delivery.

A Patented Solar Charge Controller

The solar charge controller is needed to regulate how power is sent to the battery. 

What sets our charge controller apart is that it uses a patented MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) charging technology. MPPT lets us better modulate the power and increase the charging efficiency by up to 30% while continuing to prolong the battery lifespan.

This means that when night falls, you have reliable lighting, night after night.

This added current capacity enables us to manage better, store, and conserve energy which means you get the most out of each solar panel.
