Solar Lighting International Lighting Products
When making a decision about what type
or option of solar lighting will best fit your application,
you need to understand the type of solar light you are
considering and why you are going to consider it for your
application. Solar Lighting International looks forward to
providing you with unbiased and comprehensive explanation of
your options and the advantages and disadvantages of each
type of solar lighting.
Typically you have the following solar
lighting options:
Solar LED Lighting –
Solar LED Lighting is a great option for areas where you
need concentrated light, as LED lighting often does not have
an adequate beam spread for customers needs. What is beam
spread you may ask? Beam spread is the ability for light to
be evenly distributed far away from the light source. For
example, if you need 60 feet or more between poles, Solar
LED lighting may be inadequate.
LED lighting is like a laser, it will
provide directional lighting, but it will not provide
effective coverage between poles as typically used in street
lighting. The great benefit to Solar LED lighting is the
reduction in maintenance. LED lighting typically will last
10 years or longer between lamp or fixture replacements. The
large advantage of Solar LED lighting is, if you can accept
a little less light and basically no maintenance, Solar LED
lighting is the way to go. Solar Lighting International
manufactures excellent solar led lighting options and
temperature colors to fit your application.
Solar Metal Halide Lighting-
If your commercial solar lighting application is for
streets, roadways or highways the most effective and
brightest solution will be solar metal halide street
lighting. This is similar to the common HPS and Metal halide
lighting in typical grid tie lighting applications. Pole
placement for street lighting using solar metal halide
lighting can range from 30-40 meters, depending on the
lighting requirement and the roadway or highway width. Solar
Lighting International can adequately meet IES lighting
standards for highway lighting on a 3 lane road at 40 meter
spacing. Solar parking lot lighting is also greatly enhanced
when using metal halide type lighting. Solar light poles can
easily be place 90 feet apart, with the light actually
providing 1 foot candela in the center.
The drawback to using metal halide
lighting is bulb replacement, which is typically done every
24 months. Solar Lighting International provides 8 years of
spare bulbs with every light, this eliminates the need to
purchase spare bulbs for almost a decade.
Solar Lighting International provides
two options for brightness, 3700 lumens and 5300 lumens.
Solar Low
Pressure Sodium (SOX) Lighting- There are several
reasons to choose Low Pressure Sodium or Solar (SOX)
lighting. The most significant reason is a high lumen to
initial wattage usage. For a better understanding, the
initial wattage required to start a 5300 lumen light may
initially consume 35-40 watts. However, as the low pressure
sodium bulb degrades- gets older- the amount of watts needed
to produce the same amount of lumens increases dramatically.
This will result in a greatly reduced night time operation
after the first year. So at the end of the bulbs useful life
the system may be required to produce 50 watts of power to
achieve the same light level as the system had when
initially purchased. The result is a significantly reduced
runtime as the bulb ages, as the solar panel was designed
for the initial 35 watts of power required, not the 50 watts
it will end up consuming. Therefore, we do not recommend
using low pressure sodium unless specified by the customer.
All Solar Lighting International
lighting systems are made in the USA and are Dark Sky
compliant, except low pressure sodium.
